Control blood sugar... with FAT!

Fats have been demonized and vilified for so long that you might think they're a band of outlaws, waiting to rob the nearest bank or locomotive.

But fats aren't bad for you.

Many of them are GOOD for you!

I know that's not what you've heard, but the very same low-fat diet being pushed by the mainstream can actually wreck your health, and two new studies show how.

When many folks go on the mainstream low-fat diet, they end up eating more carbs.

They THINK they're eating "healthy" carbs like a baked potato instead of French fries, brown rice instead of white, and whole-grain bread instead of dinner rolls.

In reality, none of those changes make much of a difference.

Once inside your body, even supposedly "healthy" carbs will cause blood sugar to spike. When it happens regularly -- when you have carbs at every meal -- you can develop insulin resistance and, eventually, diabetes.

That's why the first new study finds that folks who cut their carbs and replace them with healthy unsaturated fats like the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil see major improvements in blood sugar control.

Cutting just 5 percent of your carbs and replacing them with monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats will cut your HbA1c by 0.1 percent.

If you don't know much about HbA1c, that may not sound very impressive.

But it's huge.

A 0.1 percent drop is so powerful that it will cut your risk of diabetes by 22 percent and heart disease by 6.8 percent.

Ready for the best part? The benefits don't max out here.

The more you cut your carbs and replace them with those healthy fats, the more your HbA1c levels will drop.

I know the one barrier many people have with making these changes is keeping track of it all. How do you know if you've cut your carbs by 5, 10, 15, or 20 percent?

Don't worry; it's a lot easier than it sounds, and you don't have to bring a scale and a calculator to your meals.

Just switch to a Mediterranean diet.

Your carb intake will plunge and your healthy fats -- from fish, nuts, and olive oil -- will jump, and you'll get all the protection you need without having to count a thing.

In fact, the second new study looked at 52 clinical trials on the Mediterranean diet, and found it'll cut your risk of diabetes by 30 percent and heart disease by 29 percent.

And ladies, it can even cut your risk of breast cancer by more than half!

That's not all it can do, either. Other studies have shown it can help you lose weight and protect against heart attack and stroke.

There's no better diet out there, my friend, and if you're ready to learn more you can read all about it right here.
