Control blood sugar... with FAT!

When many folks go on the mainstream low-fat diet, they end up eating more carbs.

That's why the first new study finds that folks who cut their carbs and replace them with healthy unsaturated fats like the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil see major improvements in blood sugar control.
Cutting just 5 percent of your carbs and replacing them with monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats will cut your HbA1c by 0.1 percent.
If you don't know much about HbA1c, that may not sound very impressive.
But it's huge.
A 0.1 percent drop is so powerful that it will cut your risk of diabetes by 22 percent and heart disease by 6.8 percent.

The more you cut your carbs and replace them with those healthy fats, the more your HbA1c levels will drop.
I know the one barrier many people have with making these changes is keeping track of it all. How do you know if you've cut your carbs by 5, 10, 15, or 20 percent?
Don't worry; it's a lot easier than it sounds, and you don't have to bring a scale and a calculator to your meals.

In fact, the second new study looked at 52 clinical trials on the Mediterranean diet, and found it'll cut your risk of diabetes by 30 percent and heart disease by 29 percent.
