estrogen

  1. Estrogen can help women live longer

Ladies: Unlocking this secret adds YEARS to your life!

Ever see these online videos of people doing dumb stunts?

I say “people” but let’s face it: It’s always guys.

Maybe that’s one reason women live longer!

But, trust me, it’s not the only reason.

Earlier this month, some of the world’s top experts in women’s health met to discuss why gals keep outliving guys.

And, believe it or not, it’s your estrogen!

Now, that shouldn’t come as too big of a shock.

We know that naturally higher estrogen levels in women, for example, can help protect against heart disease.

But the meeting of the North American Menopause Society dug even further.

It looked at the BIG picture in your cells, specifically your telomeres, or the little caps that sit on the ends of your DNA.

As you get older, those caps shrink – and when they get too short, you’re a sitting duck for lots of serious diseases.

Estrogen can protect those telomeres, hitting the “pause” button on the aging process at the cellular level.

It’s so effective that estrogen alone could be the main reason women live FIVE YEARS longer than men.

The good news of course is that you’ve already got estrogen.

    The bad news?

After menopause, those levels plunge – and when they dip, you can face low energy… mood problems… weight gain… and more.

    But we can FIX it.

We can raise those levels again, not only protecting against aging but also maybe adding years to your life.

There are safe and natural ways to get your own body to do the work for you and increase estrogen production on its own.

A little weight loss, for example, can stimulate estrogen production in older women.

If you’ve tried that and still fall short, then you may need a little more help in the form of bioidentical hormones in the care of an experienced holistic medical doctor.

  2. Estrogen therapy leads to healthier gums

A surprising benefit of estrogen therapy

You hear plenty about side effects... but today I want to take it in the other direction.

I've got some really good news about a powerful side BENEFIT.

And ladies, if you're considering estrogen therapy -- ideally with bioidentical hormones in the care of an experienced holistic medical doctor -- you're going to love this one.

New research reveals that hormone replacement after menopause can help you in a big and unexpected way.

It turns out that estrogen therapy can help protect your teeth and gums!

The study finds that older women who have this treatment are 44 percent less likely to battle severe periodontitis, or a form of gum disease that can cause pain, inflammation, bleeding, and tooth loss.

Gum disease also means more trips to the dentist, longer sessions, more pain, and bigger bills. And if your teeth start falling out, you can kiss many of the foods you love goodbye.

It might not seem like estrogen would have much to do with your teeth and gums, but there's a pretty simple explanation for this.

When hormone levels drop, you can suffer thinner and weaker bone -- including the bone in your jaw.

Since most people already have some level of gum disease, the two conditions fuel each other. The loss of bone causes more decay in the gums, and the infection of gum disease leads to more problems in the jaw and teeth.

Eventually, those teeth start popping out.

Hormone therapy helps protect that all-important jawbone, and even if it doesn't quite prevent or stop gum disease -- you'll need to brush and floss for that -- at least it won't cause that cycle where it gets worse due to decaying jawbone.

That same therapy will also protect your other bones and help prevent osteoporosis.

And of course hormone therapy can also reduce or eliminate many of the other problems that strike after menopause -- including the hot flashes, mood swings, heart risk, and even some of those troubles in the bedroom.

The only downside to the new study is that it's a mainstream look at hormone therapy, and that means they likely used Big Pharma's hormone drugs, which pack the potential for serious side effects.

So let me give you two better options.

The first is to see if your body can start generating its own estrogen again with the help of diet, herbal remedies, and other natural treatments, including homeopathic remedies.

For more on those options, pick up a copy of the latest edition of my book Prescription for Natural Cures, which features an entire chapter on menopause.

If you've tried to boost estrogen production naturally and are still falling short, or if you're suffering from a more serious deficiency, then bioidentical hormones might be right for you.

These are customized to match the needs of your body so they work better and are much less likely to cause side effects.

And if you're in the San Diego area, I can help. Make an appointment to see me here at the Stengler Center for Integrative Medicine and I can run some tests to which approach is best for you.

Poor sleep habits can increase inflammation in women with heart disease -- and inflammation can worsen the disease.

There's a new push to put women at risk for breast cancer onto medication. Just one problem: New research shows it may slash tumor risk, but it doesn't save lives.
  6. Testosterone levels in men can ease MS

Testosterone can ease disability and cognitive problems in men with multiple sclerosis.
  7. How to lose muffin top

For many women, 'muffin top' isn't caused by what they eat. It's caused by a drop in estrogen after menopause.
  8. Obesity is the number two cause of cancer

Obesity is a major cause of cancer, second only to smoking.
  9. FDA refuses to take action on BPA

If the FDA can't see why it's a bad idea to feed everyone -- even babies -- chemical versions of hormones, then they should get out of regulation business altogether.
  10. Obesity kills sperm

Time for some tough talk about the male waistline -- specifically what's right above it... and what's right below, because the two are more closely linked than you might think.
  11. BPA in new disease link

One of the worst things in your food and drink isn't an ingredient at all -- not in the usual sense, anyway. It's a hormone-like chemical used in the packaging.
  12. Sex is safe for heart patients

Just because you're a heart patient doesn't mean you have to miss out on some Valentine's Day romance. There's still one "do" you can do: If you can climb a flight of stairs without suffering chest pain or a bout of gasping, you can have sex -- even if you had a heart attack just last week, according to the latest advice from the American Heart Association.
  13. Plastics chemicals linked to developmental problems

It's easy to protect your children from what you can see -- but it's a much bigger challenge to keep them safe from what you can't.
