phthalates

  1. Phthalates could be hiding in fast food

Shocking new danger that’s hiding in your fast food

No one really believes fast food is healthy on any level, but plenty of folks eat it anyway.

After all, life is hectic. You get busy, and next thing you know, you’re hitting the drive-thru on your way home.

You know you shouldn’t…but you do it anyway.

Well, maybe this will help you think twice: There’s a secret ingredient in fast food… one that’s not listed on any label (not even in the fine print)… and it could be even worse than the preservatives, coloring agents, salt, and saturated fats.

It’s a class of industrial chemicals known as phthalates commonly used to make plastics stronger and more flexible, and it’s been linked to developmental problems in kids and a host of problems in adults including cancer.

Phthalates are so dangerous that they’ve been banned from products that kids touch. Yet here we are, EATING it!

The new study finds phthalate levels in the body jump in the 24 hours after eating a fast food meal. And folks who wake up with the King more often have the highest levels – specifically 24 percent higher levels of the phthalate DEHP and 40 percent more of DiNP.

Let me decode that alphabet soup for you: DEHP is so risky that it’s been banned from toys and baby products permanently, while DiNP has been banned at least for the time being, with a more permanent ban likely coming in the future.

They shouldn’t be in food. Fast food might TASTE like plastic… it’s not made of ACTUAL plastic (we hope).

Odds are, these chemicals are getting into the food from the packages the foods are stored in, as well as from cooking equipment and even the plastic gloves worn by restaurant workers.

Of course, you know those aren’t the only bad ingredients in fast food. They might not even be the worst ingredients.

The meats used to make highly processed foods such as fast food come from sick animals pumped full of antibiotics and hormones. If you think the animals on those farms are abused, you should see what happens to the meat.

It’s an ugly process that leaves you with the lowest-quality cuts, loaded with unhealthy fats, plenty of salt, and a kitchen sink of additives – including chemical preservatives and coloring agents – all on a sesame seed bun.

This is stuff that, simply put, doesn’t belong in any “special sauce” OR in your body.

It’s not just fast foods, by the way. ALL processed foods, including processed foods in the supermarket, contain many of these chemicals and more – like the dangerous BPA found in can linings and other packaging.

The best way to slash your levels of all these chemicals and more is to switch to a diet of fresh organic foods. If you need to store anything to keep it fresh, use glass or stainless steel containers.

  2. Inside new autism statistics

    Inside new autism statistics

The numbers are so big they hardly seem real: A 30 percent increase in autism in just the past two years.

That means 1 in 68 8-year-olds -- or roughly 1 child in every two or three third-grade classrooms -- now have this life-changing condition, according to the startling new autism statistics from the CDC.

Mainstream medicine is trying to pretend that these numbers are due to “increasing awareness," “earlier diagnosis" and a “changing definition" of autism.

But you and I know that's bunk.

I'm convinced the real reason for this surge in autism statistics is all the toxins we're routinely exposed to.

They're damaging enough to adults, but they can be especially devastating to the still-developing brain of a child, especially when they're exposed in the womb.

Children born in homes with vinyl floors, for example, have double the risk of autism -- and it's almost certainly because of the chemical phthalates used in that flooring. BPA -- the chemical found in plastics, canned goods, store receipts and more -- has also been linked to autism. (Read more here.)

Common contaminants found in U.S. drinking water can also damage the brain and cause autism.

But one of the biggest causes of autism is metals exposure. Many toxic metals can cross the blood-brain barrier and do lasting and even permanent damage.

And I'm not afraid to say it: One all-too-common source of metals exposure is vaccines.

I don't care if you're pro vaccination or not, that's a decision I'll leave up to you and your family. But I will say that it's absolutely irrational that kids are routinely given so many vaccines all at once, and that many of these shots still contain mercury, aluminum and other metals despite the fact that they can be produced without them.

If you have or are expecting a child, grandchild or even great grandchild in your life, take steps to remove as many of these chemicals from your home and your diet as you can, and work closely with a holistic medical doctor who can give you the full story on vaccines.

And if you have a kid who already has the condition, work with that same doctor -- because natural detoxification programs combined with strict dietary changes can make all the difference in the world.

  3. Packaged food increases disease risk in children

Common chemicals used in food packaging can increase the risk of obesity and diabetes in children, according to new research.
  4. Phthalates found in organic foods

Even switching to a diet of all organic foods can expose you to high levels of hormone-like chemicals such as BPA and phthalates.
  5. Behind the new autism numbers

In the two decades since I opened my practice, I've seen a dramatic rise in the number of families with autistic children. I'm not the only one.
  6. Plastics chemicals linked to developmental problems

It's easy to protect your children from what you can see -- but it's a much bigger challenge to keep them safe from what you can't.
